"Wow "stupid" - a bit harsh? I think you're thinking of this project on a much bigger scale which was not my intention. I did not at any point suggest that you only eat the produce that you grow so your comment about dying of hunger is unfair (I am aware vegetables do not magically grow over night!). Also I am not expecting people to turn their apartments into farms I only meant this to be small scale and I do not believe this project would take over your life (unless you wanted it to). You can, for example, grow carrots in a deep plant pot quite easily (again I go back to my original point about this not being big scale). I also did not want to start a political debate about agriculture and I apologise to anyone who has taken my idea the wrong way for this reason. I simply suggested this as an idea because I know people who have started to do this and thoroughly enjoy it. They only grow 2 or 3 types of veg and far from getting in the way of their life it has became a small, yet very rewarding part of it. They love caring for and watching their veg grow. They enjoy sharing the produce with their friends and family and get a real kick out of cooking a meal using the produce that they have grown themselves. And while they still buy their other everyday groceries just the same as before, it has benefited their wallets and (albeit in a small way) the environment :)"June 13 2012 on Start to grow your own vegetables!
