Check your average energy consumption with a plug in powermeter and try to reduce power and gas usage by 30% in a month. That adds value to the environment for sure. And it's easy. June 11 2012
If not already; go Vegan! Or encourage others to do so. For animal products people and other animals suffer, the rainforest gets cut down, water and food gets wasted, it's bad for the environment and your health etc... Even vegetarianism already helps a lot! Would be curious how much people you could change :) June 11 2012

"I think this idea is just plain stupid. First of all, you will die out of hunger before the produce is ready. Secondly, please imagine how much space we would need if all of us would plant our own veggies. And we would need to take care of them, which leaves less time for doing where we are good at ourselves. No, its better to have things like this outsourced to the experts, which are farmers. They ensure that there is always enough efficiently produced food. And above all, it is way more efficient and effective to help farmers to produce more sustainable, because you then tackle a centralized problem.
