Start a campaign to reduce the waste of good food: create awareness of all the delicious food that is thrown away at restaurants every day and promote the use of 'doggy bags' (taboo in NL, very normal everywhere else ;)!) An idea from Ingetje Wielenga

And what about the good food that is thrown away at families (with young children)? Maybe collect this around 6:30 pm and bring it to people who can't cook?

Sounds like a good idea! In the Netherlands there is an initiative now called www.thuisafgehaald.nl which is focused on this. There you can sign up what food you have left over from your meal and people can come and pick it up. It works great! I did it a couple of times already!
