Hi Marije, google on 'ken robinson teaching'.
You will get some youtubes and some ted.com vids that are worth watching. He has good thoughts about teaching kids and the consequences of our teaching system. A system, as he says, has been developed many many years ago and did absolut not evoluate like society has done. Soo, we are teaching in a system and style, that is far from the way we think and live and develop ourselves.
Have a look at these 3 vids on ted.com http://www.ted.com/search?q=ken+robinson
You can also google on 'ken robinson elements' and hear him telling about the book.
As for the translation, I think it's a waste of time and energy to tranlate it first. If those Spanish teachers are on such a low level with their language, thte value of the book is zero anyway.

Investing in teaching does seem to me to be one of the best investments one can make for a better future for everyone, and thus "to make the world a better place" :).
Think for a minute: you teach a teacher something valuable to implement into his/ her courses and the snowball effect starts right there!

Of course, I am supposed to be biased, since I am a teacher ;)

That's exactly why I think that kids at school have to learn about food. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go_QOzc79Uc

At this very moment we have some large problems.
Starvation and hunger, Obesity and economics.
They can all be solved in ONE go.

Think about it:

When all people in the world, became a Plant-Eater, there would be enough food for everybody and nobody had to starv any longer or go to bed hungry.
We would not have any obese people, 80% of our world health costs are based on our wrong way of living. Animal proteins are the cause of most deseases.
What a lot of money there would be available for other things, like educating teachers.

That is why the cause Plan-Eater has a much higher value than all other things, because the newer and better way of living would solve so many other things, also the one of Crischinagirl.

I agree, that teaching teachers is a good thing, it only solves this one problem and nothing more.

Make the whole world Plant-Eater and so many many problems are solved.

Watch these 3 movies and believe me, you will agree with me.

Well I think that teaching about food (effects) might be the perfect combination of the two ideas that are on top of the list!

Yes Thirsa, I don't have anything against combining.
For me the main thing is to create awareness on the subject. It is done here and it is done by the people voting for my idea. Winning is fun, but not the most important.
The advantage of winning would be that even more people becme aware of this, as Maarten writes about his actions and in that way, spreads the message.

I think Ken Robinson is very close to the opinions which are given in this document http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Y9OqSJKCc you can choose your languaje subtitles...
For me the labour of so many teachers should be just FACILITATE to the child, to the young people, to the adults....BE who they want to really be
