I executed this idea, you can view the end result here!
Make a list of 30 things you don't like about your city. Every day of the month, do something in order to change one of them or to inspire more people to do something about it. An idea from Julian Torres

I like this idea. Especially after Februaries winning idea aimed very global. Go local again, start in you surrounding, change your city...
I just think 30 is very ambitious, isn't it?
Sure, but it also depends on the the kind of goals Maarten puts in the list. I thought it would be more exciting and fun to perform a different action for each day, but if 30 is too much the number of actions could be a little less.
I really like this idea!
Funny thing with this idea is that I noticed I'm having a hard time to find things that I don't like about the city I live in, Rotterdam (in a sense a very positive realization). Maybe I would like to see more trees, plants etc, more nature is always appreciated. Do other people have ideas of things they don't like about their surroundings that I can think about? Or things specific to Rotterdam?
you could combine it with my seeds idea...;-)
@maarten good question. i won't know what to put on my list. I love my city!
@maarten so there you are now, with a plan that is now on #1 position. Let's hope that Julian will be at the hangout to give some inspiration.
Well, I haven't been there but I love rotterdam too...what about dirty walls you don't like, you could turn them into nice walls with cool messages...lack of flowers and plants as @maarten says...maybe some pollution in the sea ports, I don't know...maybe some homeless people you don't like to see hanging around, turn them into lamps and soap haha! my black humor, sorry about it, now really, you could help them in any way...people with bad public habits...
well, for sure 30 is big number, as I said it would be exciting to have a different activity each day, but according to the rotterdam case we could make it 4 and have an activity for each week, and still be fun...
This idea gives @marteen freedom about what he really wants to do for making the wolrd a better place starting by his ubication, and it is the oportunity of doing all those things that are too little to deserve an entire month, and I'm sure any city has lots of little thing you can improve...
@bart, I hope this idea gets the #1 position until the end of the month, and I'll be at the hangout via livestream bringing all the inspiration I can!
See you guys!
Thanks for the input Julian, we could indeed do some reverse graffiti or a different form of changing walls into something positive. (I just learned about moss graffiti, seems to take some work, but impressive! http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/featured/moss-grass-graffiti/2147?image=0 )
Maybe we can see how many small ideas we can gather, and then we see how many I can manage within a month...
Here is short, 15-minute film on what one man is doing to improve his neighborhood: http://www.bbc.co.uk/filmnetwork/films/p004tn6m
Thanks for sharing Adam, it's a nice little inspiring film! Maybe I can clean up littering for a week as well!!
If you like more plants etc., we could incorporate the guerilla gardening feature into this idea :)!! Would love for that to happen. And if you like to brighten up some walls, I love painting, so please remember to invite me!
