Collect mobile phones that are not in use, and give them back for recycling. Keep one of them and smash it... What minerals are being used to produce it? Where do they come from? An idea from Miquel Ballester

i don't get the smashing part...

so that you get insight it how difficult it is to recycle them, how many different parts they have... all the minerals/metals that are involved.... etc

I found a place, where old mobile phones are collected...de Apenheul. They do it because some sort of apes (the gorilla´s) cannot survive in their normal surrounding in Africa, because a special mineral is needed to create the chips for mobile phones. The mineral can be found there. So Apenheul collects old mobiles to recycle them. It´s incredible that almost everybody in the Netherlands has more than one mobile, of which one at least is not in use...????
