Nou ik heb gestemd hoor! Wat ik met m'n tweet bedoelde is dat al het onderwijs veranderen (van peuterspeelzaal, kleuterschool, basisschool, voortgezet onderwijs, mbo, hbo, postdoctoraal, nascholing) misschien wel erg ambitieus is...ikzelf werk regelmatig in/voor het hoger onderwijs en nascholing voor volwassenen en ik moet zeggen dat zaken daar over het algemeen redelijk goed geregeld zijn. Ik hoorde pas wel dingen over het VO waar ik erg van schrok, dingen in het verlengde van 'factory system'. Kortom: ik wil wel een keertje meepraten en heb ook wel een aantal mensen in mijn timeline die je zou kunnen benaderen :)

Ah wow, dat lijkt me super! Ik zou inderdaad in het begin mij heel erg moeten orienteren, want dit is niet een onderwerp waar ik dagelijks mee te maken heb. Het zou daarom erg interessant zijn...

Yes, please, the only way that I think this can work is if Maarten could "create" a team of people who are already connected to the system and have a drive to change it. Together they could help Maarten get an idea of the direction to go in, crowd-sourcing would be wonderful for it :) Then, work together to create momentum. Who knows what could happen!?

Grote ontbrekende factor in onderwijs: levensnavigatie. Ik bedoel daarmee: je eigen talenten begrijpen, verschillen met anderen erkennen, waarderen en met elkaar leren omgaan, je droom benoemen en leren stappen in de juiste richting te zetten.

Wil graag helpen - ben helaas niet goed ingevoerd in het onderwijs - maar weet wel van heel dichtbij wat er gebeurt als schoolverlaters 'de wijde werkwereld' intrekken en na een paar jaar zomaar ontplezierd en futloos kunnen raken. En wat er bij komt kijken om mensen te helpen koers te kiezen en varen. Wat nou als we elkaar daar in een wat eerdere levensfase bij helpen?

Ja Robbert, ik ben het helemaal met je eens. En ik ken wel een heel aantal mensen die bezig zijn met onderwijs mooier maken. En daarvan komen er een heel aantal op Edushock in Belgie op 5 december. Een perfect begin dan de maand lijkt me! Mooi dat er nu al zoveel stemmen voor dit idee zijn, hoop van harte dat het hem gaat worden. Be the change you wish to see in the world (and education)

Verena: ik ken veel oud Pabo-ers kan wel even informeren voor contactpersonen. Aan de andere kant, er is nu geen werk in onderwijs dus misschien beter contact zoeken met schoolbesturen om huidige docenten een workshop aan te bieden?

Het wordt nog spannend of dit idee het gaat worden, dus nog even goed onder de aandacht brengen! ;) Aan het meedenken zal het niet liggen! Tof!

Leg ook contact met vormen van onderwijs die al wel vernieuwend bezig zijn, zoals de Vrije School. Daar wordt veel aandacht besteed aan kunstzinnige en maatschappelijke vorming!

Hahaha, good idea Maarten. Do reaalise though, that the links are showing a very radicle change in education system. A needed one, but far too large leap.
My suggestion is, that you follow the ideas that some people have given, who know teachers, some unemployed maybe, and that you form a group. Jolanda knows people in the free-school system. Try that one. Also here in Denmark, with those people you have the best changes.
They have less rules to keep to.
I'm very interested in what you achieve.

Wow, Verena, loved this talk! And amazing how fast this project has grown to reach so many children (and adults).

I love the idea. I believe that children learn at ease when they like what they do. In a playfull way we learn more than in a whole year of theoretical learning. In schools I give workshops: "Entrepreneur of you own life"of "Juggling with your Talents". It surprises me everytime how gifted the children are in terms of attention, creativity, social interaction and focus. It is just what they are unlearned in the schoolsystem. Give children freedom to follow their own learningpath, there is where the heart is.

I can't stress just how much I support this idea. Our education systems fail to cultivate intrinsic human competencies like communication, assertiveness, critical thinking and historic awareness. Instead education is aimed at succesfull integration into business life and above all else is drenched in (neo-liberal) ideology. Education befits the economy, society comes second.

The very fact that we are only discussing ideals and strategies for change at such a basic level, points to the fact that our ambitions have never been cultivated by our educational systems.

'Unrealistic'? Only if you're trying to change the institutions. Think out of the box. There's plenty of professionals willing to help fill the gaps left by our educational system. All it takes is the initiative to organize.
